Customers Lawns - Andrew Morris
Andrew came into the showroom over the weekend with pictures of his lawn which he has been working on with our help over the last 6 months or so. The results below are simply astonishing.
Before.
After.
So how was this transformation achieved ?
Andrew first came into the showroom around 6 months ago and spoke to Terry & Kim about the lawn and his issues. We then prepared a course of treatment for Andrew to follow.
It became evident from soil samples that Andrew's problem was clay, making it difficult for the grass to establish a strong root. The best way to tackle this is aeration.
Aeration involves perforating the soil with small holes to allow air, water and nutrients to penetrate the grass roots. This helps the roots grow deeply and produce a stronger, more vigorous lawn.
The main reason for aerating is to alleviate soil compaction. Compacted soils have too many solid particles in a certain volume or space, which prevents proper circulation of air, water and nutrients within the soil. Excess lawn thatch or heavy organic debris buried under the grass surface can also starve the roots from these essential elements.
Topdressing. Topdressing the lawn is the process of adding a fine layer of fertiliser to the lawn surface. Top dressing benefits the lawn as it builds up the quality of the soil over a period of time, - sandy soils will be able to retain moisture better and so the lawn will be more resistant to drought, clay soils will drain better thus improving root development. Another benefit of top dressing the lawn is that it will help to even out any lumps and bumps that are present on an uneven lawn, filling in any small hollows that may develop. Top dressing also stimulates the grass to produce new shoots and so results in denser grass cover which helps combat the onset of weed and moss infestation.
Andrew then put down a pre seed fertiliser. This is a fertiliser high in phosphate which helps promote deep rooting of the grass & lawn establishment. It also helps bring the lawn on quicker.
Finally Andrew then seeded. A good quality seed called "Action Replay". This seed has a very fast establishment time and is extremely hard wearing.
When Andrew came in on Saturday with the photos we just had to get them on the website. Actually seeing the results of our advice is extremely satisfying.
